Millions of Eligible Kids Not Enrolled in CHIP, Medicaid, Study Finds
A new Health Affairs study finds that about five million uninsured U.S. children are eligible for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program but are not enrolled. The study notes that 39% of such children live in California, Florida or Texas. Reuters, Health Affairs.

Survey: Employers Shift Health Costs to Workers at Higher Rate This Year
A new survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research & Educational Trust finds that employers are shifting health insurance costs to workers at a higher rate this year partially because of a weak economy and high unemployment rates. Washington Post et al.

Report: Nearly Half of Calif. Hospital Workers Did Not Obtain Flu Shots

UCLA Study Finds Rising Levels of Obesity, Diabetes in California

Recently Approved Bills Would Bring Changes to Calif. Hospital Industry
Before the end of the legislative session, lawmakers passed a bill to create a structure for a hospital fee to draw down federal Medi-Cal funds and another bill that relates to lease agreements between hospital operators and districts. Payers & Providers.

Exchanging Ideas – Exchanging Knowledge: A Recap of the Eighth World Congress on Brain Injury

The Eighth World Congress on Brain Injury is the Most Successful in IBIA’s History

The International Brain Injury Association’s Eighth World Congress on Brain Injury was held in Washington, DC, March 10-14, 2010.  With close to 1100 delegates from over 40 countries, the Congress was the most successful in IBIA’s history. Over 650 scientific abstracts were submitted to the meeting, also a new record.  The four-day event was packed with educational presentations, panels and workshops, which provided attendees with a unique range of cutting-edge information spanning from basic science to clinical (coma to community) aspects of brain injury.
